Message from the Chairperson

Representative Director Thank you for your continued interest in the Japan Accreditation Board for Nursing Education (JABNE).

Established in October 2018 by the Japan Association of Nursing Universities (JANPU), JABNE launched its evaluation program in 2020, and by the end of 2023, 26 universities had undergone assessment. As of May 2024, the number of member institutions has grown to 145, accounting for 47.7% of JANPU-affiliated universities.

The landscape of nursing education is complex and constantly evolving. Regardless of these changes, it is essential that students receive high-quality education in an optimal learning environment, and that faculty members and nursing professionals involved in clinical training actively engage in education with enthusiasm.

Currently, JABNE conducts peer reviews of specialized nursing education at the undergraduate level, based on its evaluation criteria, with assessments carried out by faculty members from member institutions. Over time, it has become evident that this evaluation process benefits both the universities being assessed and the faculty members conducting the evaluations.

Moving forward, we remain committed to enhancing field-specific evaluation in nursing education, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support and cooperation.

As of July 2024, I have assumed the role of Representative Director, succeeding Sanae Takada, who dedicated three terms (six years) to establishing JABNE and ensuring the successful implementation of its evaluation programs. I look forward to working with all of you.

July 2024
